What is a DBS check?
A DBS check is a criminal-record check carried out by the Disclosure and Barring Service, a UK government body. There are three levels. A Basic check shows unspent convictions. A Standard check, available for roles exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, also shows spent convictions and cautions. An Enhanced check, used for work with children and vulnerable adults, additionally draws on police intelligence. For courier work, the point of any level is the same: a documented, repeatable vetting step that confirms the person carrying your consignment has been screened.
